AMY MARGARET CARVER
Amy Margaret Carver, 92, of Deep River died Feb. 9, 1989, at Grinnell Hospital.
She was born Dec. 28, 1896, in Deep River, the daughter of John Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Atherton Gillaspie. She attended Deep River School and joined the Methodist Church as a teenager.
On Oct. 10, 1914, she was united in marriage to Ronald L. Carver. To this union two children were born, Lovell Wayne and Lois Iola. While the children were small, Amy's parents helped raise them while she cared for patients under the supervision of Doctors Frank and Mattie Crain. Later Amy made her home with her daughter Lois Evans and cared for patients in their home and helped raise two grandsons, Gary and Edward Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Gillaspie and Charles Gillaspie; three sisters: Iva Hart and two infants, Velma Ruby and Cecil Fern; one son Lovell Carver in 1986; one grandson Ronny Wayne Carver and a nephew John Gillaspie.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Lois Evans of Deep River; a daughter-in-law, Helen Carver of Deep River; six grandchildren: Gary and Nancy Evans of North Platte, Neb., Ed and Anne Evans of Villa Park, Ill., Carolyn and Bob Brennan of Deep River, Patricia and Richard Icenbice of Deep River, Barbara and Harland McCulley of Brooklyn and Ted and Marna Kudart of Montezuma; 21 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was Feb. 11 at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with Pastor Greg Morris of Nazarene Church, Deep River, Ia., officiating. Music was "Under His Wing," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "His Eye is on the Sparrow," and Kathleen Ramsey was organist.
Casket Bearers were Lee Hart, Carl Purvis, Vern Almandinger, Wes Carver, Clark Wiedow, and Dale McWilliams. Interment: Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River.
