HELEN C. CARVER, 90
Helen Caroline Carver, 90, of Deep River, died suddenly at her home on Friday, June 4, 2004.
Her funeral service was Monday, June 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Deep River, with Pastor Cory Rajek officiating. Interment was at Springfield Cemetery, Delta. Arrangements were handled by Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma.
Casket bearers were Kenneth McCulley, James McCulley, Christie Carver-Jones, Diane Brennan, Keith Icenbice and Karla Watson.
Helen was born Aug. 29, 1913, at Iowa City, the daughter of Walter and Caroline Emma (Weidle) Acord. She graduated from high school at What Cheer. On March 28, 1940, she was united in marriage with Lovell Carver at Lancaster, Mo. They lived in and around Poweshiek County all of their married life. Lovell died Dec. 12, 1986. Helen was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River. She enjoyed camping, fishing and working in her garden.
Helen is survived by her family: four children, Ted (and Marna) Kudart of Montezuma; Barbara McCulley of Brooklyn; Carolyn (and Robert) Brennan of Deep River and Patricia (and Richard) Icenbice of Deep River; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Williams of Eddyville; two brothers, Lewis Acord of Iowa City and Eugene Acord of What Cheer, and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lovell; a son, Ronald Carver, in November 1970; a son-in-law, Harlan McCulley; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Alvin Acord, and a half-brother, Harry Acord.
A memorial has been established in her name for the Calvary Lutheran Church.
