GENEVIEVE LOCKER
V. Genevieve Locker, 86, of Grinnell died of renal failure Sunday, Oct. 29, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Sheeler. Casket bearers were Jeri Brown, Lisa Bullock, Leroy Locker, Jarrid Mikel, Susan Mikel and Julie Sanders. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Marion County to Walter E. and Maude Hughes Davis. She was raised on the family farm near Marysville and graduated from Bussey High School.
She was married to Boyd W. Locker July 29, 1934, in Melcher. They moved to Grinnell in 1948, and Mrs. Locker worked for a retail decorating store, Badger Implement and General Telephone Co.
She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile--Netaker Temple 11.
Surviving are one son, Daryl of Roswell, N.M.; one brother, Curtis Davis of Lovillia; three sisters, Mildred Speck of Bussey, Edna Bonnett of Eddyville and Josephine Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Keith L.; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Smith and Dorothy Hoy.
