FUNERAL SERVICES FOR C.F. TODD ARE HELD SATURDAY

Funeral services for Cyrus Floyd Todd were held at the Smith Funeral Home Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. W.F. Overhulser. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars were in charge of the military rites in Hazelwood cemetery. Music was provided by Mrs. Dolph Miller and Mrs. Carl Paxson and pallbearers were E.D. Crossett, Russell George, Ray Hartzell, Herb Hutchison, Jack Pearson and Fred Schmidt.

Cyrus Floyd Todd, son of Robert L. and Lura B. Todd, was born in Groves Spring, Mo., on March 20, 1896. He died at his home in Grinnell, Iowa, on Oct. 12, 1948. Mr. Todd spent his boyhood in Monett, Mo. It was during these years that he joined the Christian church in Monett. In 1917 he came to Grinnell. In that year he married Pearl D. Van Bogart.

In 1918 Mr. Todd entered military service with the United States Army. He gave one year of service to his country during which he spent 9 months in overseas duty in France with the quartermaster corps. His army discharge shows excellence of character and faithfulness to duty.

After the war he returned to Grinnell, where he has lived since that time. During the following years three children were born to the family. They are Eugene, Janice, and Max. Mr. Todd was a painter by trade and has made many close friends in the community. Besides Mrs. Todd the following relatives remain to share the loss of Mr. Todd; his father, Robert L. Todd; his sisters, Mrs. Josephine Bolin of Pittsburg, Kas.; Mrs. Ellen Caldwell of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; and Mrs. Etta Comer of Turlock, Calif.; and the three children and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Todd of Grinnell, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wang of Grinnell, and Max who is at home.

The entire community and especially his neighbors and friends feel a real loss because of his unexpected death.
