MRS. ALONZO B. MORRISON DIES

Funeral services for Mrs. Alonzo B. Morrison, who passed away Wednesday at the home of her son, John T. Morrison, five miles west of Malcom, were held at the home and at the cemetery Friday afternoon. The services were in charge of Rev. P.D. Aldershof, pastor of the Malcom Methodist Episcopal church.

Special music was furnished by A. Armstrong and George Torrey who also sang at the funeral services of Mrs. Morrison's husband several months ago. The pallbearers also were the same (??) chose for Mr. Morrison, who passed away in October, 1932. Interment was made in Ivy Hill cemetery.

Mary Catherine, daughter of Joseph and Evy Tinker, was born in Butler county, Pennsylvania Dec. 6, 1861, and departed from this life at midnight, Aug. 23, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 17 days. The end came after prolonged illness which kept her bedfast for 20 months.

She spent her first six years in Pennsylvania, and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1868. The rest of her life was spent in Poweshiek county, where she attended the public school, and grew to womanhood on the home place four miles north of Malcom.

On Jan. 4 1894, she was married to Alonzo B. Morrison. To this union was born one child, John T., with whom she made her home since the death of her husband ten months ago.

She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. F.A. Farmer, of Malcom, and two grandchildren, George and Betty, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Morrison united with the Ewart Methodist Episcopal church in 1906, and had been a member ever since. She also was a member of Grant No. 7 Sunday School, which she attended as long as she was able. Her death removed from the commnity one of the pioneer women to whom the great commonwealth of Iowa and the rural communities owe many thanks.
