MRS. WERTZ DIES; RITES WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Anna Bell Wertz, age 93, of the Hickory Grove neighborhood died at her home northwest of Grinnell late Sunday evening.

The daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Preston Bell, Mrs. Wertz was born March 31, 1876 in Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County. Later on March 13, 1901, she was united in marriage with George Wertz, and they made their home on a farm near Kellogg for a year. They lived southwest of Gilman for 16 years, and since 1918 lived in the present home, south of the Hickroy Grove Church.

Survivors include her husband, at the home; three sons and five daughers--Leslie Wertz of Rt. 1, Kellogg, Elmer Wertz of Gilman, Lyle Wertz of Laurel, Mrs. McKinley (Elsie) Milligan of Montezuma, Mrs. Viola Koger at the home, Mrs. Milo (Mildred) Phillips of Rt. 1, Searsboro, Mrs. Roy (Rose) Bickel of Coggon, and Mrs. Leon (Doris) Vokemlot of Madison, Ala.; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Wertz was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters Charles and John Bell, and Mrs. Etta Tilton and Mrs. Nellie Kissock.

She was a member of the Hickory Grove United Brethren Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wertz will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near the home.
