ALONZO MORRISON PASSES AWAY

Funeral services for Alonzo B. Morrison, life-long Poweshiek county resident, who passed away at his home southwest of Malcom Sunday evening, were conducted by Rev. P.D. Aldershof, pastor of the Malcom M.E. church, at the home Tuesday afternoon. Special music was furnished by A. Armstrong and George Torrey. Interment was made in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.

Alonzo B. Morrison, son of W.R. and Kathryn Morrison, was born near Montezuma, Jan. 1, 1860. When he was two years old the family moved near the present home, and the deceased had lived in this neighborhood all of his life. He passed away at his home Sunday, Oct. 30, 1932, at 11:30 p.m. aged 72 years, 10 months, 30 days.

Jan. 4, 1894, he was married to Mary C. Tinker at Malcom. To this marriage one child was born, John T., who with his family has been living on the home place.

During his life A.B. Morrison was an active worker. In 1906 he joined a class at the Methodist church at Ewart, and has been a member of that church ever since. He was also an attendant at Union Sunday school at Grant No. 7 school house. At one time he was identified with this Sunday school as one of the teachers.

The deceased is survived by two brothers: George W.M. of Brittin, N.D., and W.F. Morrison of Mirriam, Kan. Four half-brothers who survive are J.A. Morrison of Green Mountain, Iowa, E.S. Morrison of Lockport, Ill.; C.W. Morrison of Malcom, and R.W. Morrison of Deep River. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. George Beaver of Grinnell. Two grandchildren surviving are George and Betty Morrison. The deceased was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
