ROLLAND E. DOTY

Rolland E. Doty, 76, of Brooklyn died Monday morning, Sept. 16, 1996, in Marengo Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Doty were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. The Rev. William Daylong and the Rev. David Hensley officiated. The organist was Angie Hawkins and the soloist was Calvin Roudabush, who rendered the selection "How Great Thou Art."

Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rhinehart and Mr. and Mrs. Ross McCulla. Honorary casketbearers were Jim Kriegel, August Van Renterghem, Keith Brannian, Bill Kuntz, Roger Gritsch, Keith McMains and Kenneth Carmichael. Casketbearers were Merle Doty, Bob Toney, Floyd Doty, Roger Van Ersvelde, Larry Bentley and Ken Smith. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.

Rolland F. Doty, son of Forrest Clement Doty and Nola Tinker Doty, was born Jan. 13, 1920, on a farm near Brooklyn, Iowa. Rolland received his education in a rural school and the Brooklyn High School, graduating in 1937. He started farming with his father following graduation. On June 3, 1945, he was married to Mary Louise Hensley in Central City, Neb. They farmed near Brooklyn and Rolland retired in 1984.

Mr. Doty was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn. He was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau and a member of Corinthian Lodge #174 AF & AM. He was a past board member of the Brooklyn Mutual Telehone Co. and farmer's Co-op Elevator of Malcom.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; three daughters, Connie Hodson of Bolingbrook, Ill.; Marilyn McKee and her husband, Scott, of North Oaks, Minn.; and Fae Alexander and her husband, Kyle, of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Lois Van Ersvelde of Brooklyn; two brothers, Forrest Doty of Brooklyn and Melvin Doty of Grinnell; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Martha and Irene.

A memorial fund has been established and may be left with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home.
