FORREST DOTY SERVICES HELD

Fuenral services for Forrest Doty Sr. of Brooklyn were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the Madison Church of Christ.

Mr. Doty died Saturday, Jan.4, at Grinnell General Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week.

Charles Evans, minister of the Madison Church of Christ, officiated at the services. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Brooklyn. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home of Brooklyn was in charge of arrangements.

Forrest Clement Doty Sr., son of Abel and Laura Sheets Doty, was born in Tama County, Ia., on March 26, 1882. He was united in marriage to Nola May Tinker on Dec. 6, 1905, near Brooklyn. The couple farmed in the Brooklyn area until their retirement.

Mr. Doty was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, a 50-year member of the IOOF Lodge, and a charter member of the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include three sons, Forrest Doty Jr., Melvin Doty, and Rolland Doty, all of Brooklyn; a daughter, Mrs. Bruno (Lois) Van Ersvelde of Brooklyn; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters, two brothers, four sisters, and one great-granddaughter.
