DOTY RITES HELD HERE WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Glenn Doty, 58, were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Methodist church in charge of the Rev. M.C. Shupe, pastor. Organist was Leo Shuler who also accompanied Loring Rohrer, soloist. Interment was in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom, with Rolland Doty, Elver Roudabush, John E. Roudabush, Owen Wenger, William Peterson and Earl Peterson serving as pallbearers.

Glenn Ross Doty, youngest son of Abel and Laura Sheets Doty, was born west of Brooklyn May 8, 1900. In 1901 he moved with his family to a farm north of Brooklyn where he had lived the rest of his life. Mr. Doty died November 16, at University hospitals in Iowa City following an illness of several months.

On August 4, 1923, he was married to Cora Mae Dayton and three children were born to the couple: Abel Francis, and twin daughters Cora Mae and Coral Fae. Mrs. Doty died at the time of the twins' birth, and also Coral Fae. Cora Mae died at the age of 14.

He was married to Pearl Jewell Oct. 8, 1930, and ten children were born to the couple. They include: Ross, at home; Mrs. Robert (Vivian) King of Grinnell; Daryl and Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Palmer of Cedar Rapids; and Marvin, Joan, Lucille, Kay and Dale, at home. One son died in infancy.

Mr. Doty united with the Methodist church in Brooklyn in 1945. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge, Past Noble Grand and was active in civic and community interests for many years.

He is survived by his widow, Pearl; his ten children; seven grandchildren; one brother, Forrest Doty of Brooklyn, and four sisters, Mrs. Ed Severe, Mrs. Gertrude Roudabush and Mrs. Mark Johnston of Brooklyn and Mrs. Charles Hutchings of Des Moines.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and one brother.
