LAVERN LAMB

Lavern W. Lamb. 77, of Grinnell died Friday, Dec. 15, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Daylong, pastor of the Sheridan Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler, and vocalist will be Marlene Gritsch.

Pallbearers will be Michael and Brian Huff, Matt, Bill and Christopher Lamb, Chaun Favre, David Harris, Scott and Tim Kaisand and Nick Bunse. Honorary bearers will be Virgil Adams, Gene Freeborn, Floyd Heishman, Raymond King, Harley McIlrath, Eldon Oltrogge, Walter Puls and Jerry Van Ommen.

Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery.

The son of William and Emma Schultz Lamb, he was born March 23, 1918, in rural Malcom. He attended rural school.

He was married to Helen Lynch Aug. 27, 1938, in Lancaster, Mo. They farmed north of Grinnell in Sheridan Township until retiring in 1980. They moved to Grinnell in 1983.

Mr. Lamb was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church, a former member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, a former president of District 5 rural school, former Poweshiek County ASCS officer, former president of West Sheridan Telephone Co. and former Sheridan Township clerk.

He is survived by his wife; four children Judy Huff and Betty Harris, both of Grinnell, Roger of Marshalltown and Janet Bunse of Melbourne; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merle of Grinnell and Shirel of Cedar Rapids; and one sister, Bernice Pals of Thornton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Truman and Faye; one sister, Maxine Smith; and one grandchild.
