Harry Rehberg

Harry E. Rehberg, 91, of 609 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died Monday, May 15, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom, with the Rev. Gerald F. Brown officiating.  Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were James Davidson, Keith Davidson, Mark Davidson, Bruce Gertsma, Leroy Locker, Larry Parker, Ronald Parker, Frederick Rehberg and Paul Rehberg.  Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established, and contributions may be left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The son of Frederick Edward and Johanna Hanssen Rehberg, he was born April 1, 1898, in Sheridan Township.  He attended rural school and Rahe Auto mechanics School in Kansas City.

He was married to Wilhelmina M. E. Jochims Feb. 16, 1921, in Tama.  The couple farmed in Sheridan Township until 1948, then moved to Grinnell.  Mr. Rehberg was employed by Midwest Mfg. Co. of Kellogg, the Van Wechel Garage, the Automatic Washer Co. in Newton and Saga Foods at Grinnell College.  He retired in 1964.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Brotherhood and was a past director of the Sheridan Township School District.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Harold of Blairstown and Marion of Mesa, Ariz.; five daughters, Lillian J. Davidson of Brooklyn, Doris E. Parker of Kellogg, Fern F Buhr of Grinnell, Garnet I. Gertsma of Lynnville, and Nancy S. Locker of Grinnell; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nonie Timm of Montezuma. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, twin great-grandsons, and one sister, Stella Gallup.
