Elsie May Allen, daughter of John A. and Sarah Lineweaver Evans, was born on a farm south of Brooklyn, Iowa on Jan.26, 1891 and passed away suddenly in Brooklyn, Iowa on Oct. 25,1966 at the age 75 years,8 months and 29 days .
She attended the rural schools of Poweshiek County and was baptized in the Fairmount Community Church. She was also, a member of the Brooklyn Chapter of the Eastern Star.
On June 26, 1908 she was united in marriage with William Henry Allen. Their early years were spent on farms near Montezuma and Brooklyn.

In the spring of 1943 they moved to a farm near Huron,S.D. where her husband passed away May 12 , 1947. Since the spring of 1948 she returned to make her home with her son Earl William .

Survivors include her two sons,Evan E. of Staples, Minn.; and Earl William of Montezuma; two brothers, Earl and Ray of Brooklyn; five grandchildren, Eva( Mrs. Stanley May} of Miller, S.D.; Richard Allen of Minneapolis,Minn.; Helen
[Mrs. Doran Johnson] of Staples, Minn.; Charlotte Jean[ Mrs. Richard Guse]of Eagle Bend, Minn.; Elsie[Mrs. William Riggs] of Minneapolis, Minn.; also 17 great -grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends .

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one great-granddaughter .
