OBITUARY OF ELMER KIBBEE OF BROOKLYN

Elmer, son of James M. and Elizabeth Kibbee, was born on a farm near Brooklyn, Ia., April 10, 1882.

The family moved to Brooklyn when he was ten years of age, where he resided until he passed away, Wednesday, April 10, 1935, at the age of 53 years. He attended the grade and high schools of Brooklyn.

January 15, 1909, he joined the Christian church of Brooklyn.

He was united in marriage with Miss Bessie Harmon of Brooklyn May 15, 1909.

For about 15 years he has been janitor of the Brooklyn high school building. He was always exceedingly prompt and faithful to his duties in this position. Ever kindly and considerate of those about him, he won a place in the hearts of all those with whom he labored.

For about ten years he has been a member of Brooklyn lodge No. 114 I.O.O.F.

There were eight children in the family of his parents, Francis, William, Flora, Robert, Cora, Elmer, Mabel and Myrtle. His parents and two brothers, William and Francis preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, sisters, Mrs. Flora Porter, Richland, Mo., Mrs. Cora Smith, Brooklyn, Mrs. Mabel Newton, Mt. Vernon, S.D., Mrs. Myrtle Weatherly, Des Moines, and brother, Robert, of Brooklyn, several nieces and nephews, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the pastor, Rev. E.W.F. Holler. Miss Thursia Manatt played "Just for Today" and "In the Garden" on the pipe organ.

Pallbearers were Dr. E.J. Schmitz, C.E. Brooks, Roscoe Ormiston, Frank Lineweaver, T.R. McGeorge and H.R. Light.

Brooklyn Lodge No. 114 I.O.O.F. had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kensinger and son of Mt. Carroll, Ill., Mrs. Frances Kibbee, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kibbee of Winnebago, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hannon of Tama, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Wolford, Mrs. Anna Johnston, Leonard Stevenson, Mrs. Roy Wilhite and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevenson, all of Deep River, George Smith of Victor, Mrs. Fred Reighburg of Grinnell, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beyers of Barnes City, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Landtiser of Malcom, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Graham of Tama, and the following from Montezuma: Mr. and Mrs. Will Shearer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. John Byers, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Byers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Byers, Mrs. Stella Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. Almond Stevenson, Mrs. Ed Hannon and Mrs. May Byers and son.
