MARIE TOKLE

Marie Tokle, 91, of Grinnell died of a respiratory ailment Sunday, Feb. 7, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, and John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Pianist was Kathy O'Connor, and vocalist was Marty Duffus. Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Rhonda Sepic, Brian and Bruce Tokle, Raelene Lenoch, and Bill and Keith Romp. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

She was born April 12, 1910, on the family farm near Grinnell to Henry and Amy Osborn Eriksen. She was raised on the farm and attended rural school and Grinnell High School.

On May 26, 1934, she was married to Carl M. Tokle in Nashua. The couple farmed in Washington Township southeast of Grinnell, then moved to Montezuma in 1962. They moved to Grinnell in 1966, and Mrs. Tokle was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also attended the Caring Adults Center in Grinnell.

Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Romp of Ellsworth; one son, Ray of Grinnell; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Paul Eriksen.

Memorial contributions may be directed to her church or the Caring Adults Center.
