FORREST CALVIN DAVIS

Private First Class Forrest Calvin Davis was born August 22, 1922, and gave his life in the service of his country on December 12, 1944.

He was born in the vicinity of Montezuma, and lived in or near this community practically all his life. He attended public school in Grinnell. He was united in marriage to the former Arlene Walker of Oskaloosa.

Upon entering the army he received training as a paratrooper, and later in glider operations. He was one of a group of 35 who were killed in a glider crash in Newburg, England, as they took off for a mission in Germany. He was buried in Cambridge, England, until he was brought home to rest.

His mother, Elsie Davis, passed away in 1925. He is survived by his father, William E. Davis of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Vernon of Montezuma, and Ferrel of Phoenix, Ariz.; by his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Snook of Montezuma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
