MR. MCBLAIN RITES TODAY

Archibald C. McBlain, 82, of 1808 Third Ave., Grinnell, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, at the Altoona Manor Care Center in Altoona.

The son of Hugh and Jane Couper McBlain, he was born May 4, 1892, in Dalry, Scotland. He attended school in Scotland and at the age of 18 moved to Canada.

He moved to Grinnell in 1920, and on July 1, 1922, he was married to Maude M. Heath in Grinnell. The couple had one son, Roderick McBlain of Des Moines.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. McBlain made their home in Grinnell. Mr. McBlain was associated with Iowa Southern Utilites Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the Grinnell First United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maude of Altoona; his son, Roderick; five grandchildren, Michael L. Press of West Des Moines, Debra Dee Young of Gentry, Ark., Roderick McBlain Jr., Kimberly McBlain, and Ronda Sue McBlain, all of Des Moines; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Len (Jessie) Robert of Ayrshire, Scotland.

Funeral services for Mr. McBlain were held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Grinnell First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Eugene Holley and pallbearers were Dr. Robert W. Baumann, Guy Cooper, Norman Hockett, Donald W. Lambie, Harry Martindale and John Peak. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorials in Mr. McBlain's name may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church.
