JEAN E. SCHRADER

Jean E. Schrader, 92, of Grinnell died Wednesday, July 13, at St. Francis Manor, in Grinnell.

A graveside service for Mrs. Schrader was held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with the Rev. Bob Molsberry, pastor of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jean. E. Schrader Memorial Fund. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell handled arrangements.

The daughter of John and Bessie Lynch McBlain, she was born October 15, 1912, in Grinnell. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1930 graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Fred Schrader March 15, 1933, in Chicago and the couple continued to make their home in Grinnell. She was employed at the Grinnell Glove Factory for several years and later was employed for 16 years at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company in the food service department as head cook. She retired in 1973. She was an active member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational and a member of the Grinnell Lady Elks.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Johnson of Newton and formerly of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; one daughter, Corrine Anne Williams; two brothers, Vernon McBlain and Frank Dupre; and four sisters, Thelma Moore, Corrine Slater, Virginia Moberger, and Claudine Garrison.
