O.P. COHOE

O.P. Cohoe died Saturday morning, Nov. 3, at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown, at 9:30 o'clock of cancer of the liver. Mr. Cohoe was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, August 15, 1830.

He came to Iowa in 1850 and lived at Deep River until 1855 when he moved to Montezuma. From there he moved to Missouri in 1860, going from Missouri to Illinois as a refugee and enlisting April 15, 1860, as corporal in Co. B. 8th Vol. Infantry. He returned to Iowa in 1870. He was twice married, the particulars of the first we were unable to obtain. In 1877 he was married to Mrs. Maxon of Searsboro, and moved to Grinnell soon after where up to the past few weeks he has made his home. His wife died October 3rd, just three weeks preceding his own death.

The deceased was an honored member of the G.A.R. and had belonged to the Mason and I.O.O.F. lodges. For the past thirteen or fourteen years he was a faithful member of the M.E. church. Of late years continued ill health kept him close at home, but through trouble and sickness he was always cheerful. He was a generous friend, a good soldier and a faithful Christian. The burial took place yesterday morning at the soldier's cemetery at Marshalltown.
