SAMUEL J. CEASER

Samuel J. Ceaser, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 23, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Lon Lewis officiating. Organ music was by Margaret Wheeler. Casket bearers were Steven Atcher, Donald Atcher, Gregory Atcher, Timothy Ceaser, Eugene Van Ersvelde and Michael Edington. Honorary bearers were Bill Campbell, George Graham, LaVerne Lamb, Larry Niswander, Art Petersen and Henry Thompson. Interment was in Sheridan Cemetery, rural Grinnell. The son of Sam and Margaret Owen Ceaser, he was born May 12, 1914, at Detroit, Mich. He was raised near Gilman and graduated from Grinnell High School, after which he worked on farms near Gilman.

He was married Dec. 24, 1939, to Eleanor Main and the couple farmed northeast of Gilman in the Sheridan neighborhood. He retired in 1986 and moved to Grinnell in 1990.

He was a member of Sheridan United Methodist Church and Sonora Grange.

Survivors include two daughters Helen Atcher, Marshalltown, and Norma Brignon, Grinnell; one son James Ceaser, Grinnell; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister Dorothy Reimer, Knoxville, and one brother, Harold Ceaser, Altoona.
