MARY L. EKER

Mary L. Eker, 66, of rural Grinnell died of cancer Sunday, Oct. 15, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

She was the daughter of Alba F. and Mary A. Binegar Kline and was born June 30, 1929, in Montezuma. She attended school at Searsboro and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1946. She worked as a secretary at Grinnell College.

She was married to Karl Eker Feb. 21, 1952, in Nashua. They lived in Grinnell where they owned and operated Claire's Cleaners for 35 years. She later worked as a hostess at area restaurants.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Penny Milburn of Johnston and Vicky Paulson of Grinnell; five grandchildren; and one brother, Keith Kline of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Velva Anderson; and three brothers, Rex, Laverne and Franklin Kline.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Park on the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds.
