LAVENE KLINE SERVICES HELD

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home for Lavene Alba Kline, 60, of Rte. 4, Grinnell, who died suddenly Wednesday afternoon while working on a farm near Grinnell.

The Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, officiated at the services. Music was provided by Mrs. Sam Reaves, organist, and Darrell Wyss, vocalist.

Flower bearers were Mrs. Warren Broders, Mrs. Harold Edgington, Mrs. Albert Grimm and Mrs. Raymond Koger.

Casketbearers were Glenn Bell, Warren Broders, Harold Edgington, Albert Grimm, Raymond Koger and Bernard Simmons.

Honorary casketbearers were William Belcher, Henry Koger, Edward Nikkel, Robert Poe, Robert Teed and Harold Whitaker.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Alba F. and Mary A. Binegar Kline, Mr. Kline was born Oct. 31, 1913 in Sugar Creek Township, east of Searsboro. He attended the Searsboro public schools.

On June 3, 1937, he married Winifred W. Beeler in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple had one son Robert B. Kline of Rte. 4, Grinnell.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Kline moved to Rock Island, Ill., where Mr. Kline was associated with International Harvestor Company. In 1942 they moved to their present farm home southeast of Grinnell.

Mr. Kline attended the Iowa Auctioneering School at Ames and for the past 13 years had been an auctioneer at Grinnell Livestock Exchange and the Montezuma Sale Company.

A member of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, Mr. Kline taught a Sunday school class and was very active in the church. He was a ten-year member of the Poweshiek county ASCA and was a trustee of the Blue Point Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred; his son, Robert; his daughter-in-law, Barbara; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Grace Beeler; two grandchildren, Larry and Debra Kline of Rte. 4; five brothers and sisters--Rex E. Kline of Kirksvillle, Mo., Mrs. Nigel (Velva) Anderson of Grinnell, Franklin C. Kline of Kansas City, Mo., Keith L. Kline of Ames, and Mrs. Karl (Mary) Eker of Grinnell as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mr. Kline was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, James A. Kline.

Should friends desire memorials in Mr. Kline's name may be made to the Grinnell Assembly of God Church.
