HAYS [KS] — Harlan E. Hoover, 81, died June 11 at his home in Hays.  He was born Feb. 13, 1923, at Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Fred D. and R. Grace Cline Hoover.  He was an auto mechanic and member of American Legion and AARP.  Survivors include one son, Allan Hoover of Great Bend; one stepson, Roger McCauley of Topeka; one brother, Herbert Hoover of Hays; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Ward Hoover; and three sisters, Esther Diehm, Adaline Hoover and Velda Hoover.  Funeral was Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel.  Burial was at Mt. Allen Cemetery in Hays.  Memorials are suggested to Alcoholics Anonymous Oak Street Group, 410 Oak, Hays, KS 67601, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel.  Funeral arrangements provided by Hays Memorial Chapel, 10th and Pine, Hays, KS 67601, 785-628-1009.
