WINIFRED W. KLINE, 90

Winifred W. Kline, 90, of Grinnell, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at her home.

Her funeral service was Wednesday, May 26, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert, Larry and Gary Kline, Dave Milburn, Jim Parker, Dr. Dustin Smith and Don Van Dyke.

Honorary bearers were Glenn Bell, Paul Ditzler, Duane and Keith Kline, and Ray Tokle.

The daughter of Lewis Clarke and Gracie Fleming Beeler, she was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Washington Township, Poweshiek County. She attended rural school and was a 1931 graduate of Grinnell High School. She received her teaching certificate at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1933. She returned to Grinnell and taught in rural schools until 1937. She was married to Lavene A. Kline on June 3, 1937, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in Rock Island, Ill., prior to moving to a farm southeast of Grinnell in 1942. She moved to Grinnell in 1984. She was employed at Wood, Wax & Paper in Grinnell and later at Smith Funeral Home as their receptionist. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Grinnell and most recently attended Grinnell Christian Church, and she was a member of the Blue Point Friendship Club.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barb Kline of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Larry Kline of Montezuma and Debbie Smith of Eagle Grove; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Smith of Eagle Grove and Kayla Johnson of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her husband.
