GALENA, KANSAS: Marvin Edmond DePauw, age 76, 1212 Elm Street, died at 9:55 am, Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at St John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO, following an illness.
Mr. DePauw was born September 13, 1931 in Hartwick, Iowa. His parents were Edmond and Blanche (Hendricks) DePauw. He had lived in Galena since 1985, moving from Brooklyn, Iowa.
He was a truck driver for Ross Bennett Sand and Gravel Company, Galena, KS. In Brooklyn Iowa, he owned and operated DePauw Tiling Service for 18 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army.
Marvin was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brooklyn, Iowa. He was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena, KS. One of his hobbies was crafting angel ornaments for family members.
He was married to Carolyn Fern Audrine Armstrong on November 21, 1954 in Brooklyn, Iowa. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son Curtis Edmond DePauw (wife, Rebecca), Grinnell, Iowa; one daughter, Christina Geleyn Gilliland (husband, Darvin), Oswego, KS; three brothers, Charles DePauw (wife, Erma), Grinnell, Iowa, Raymond DePauw (wife, Mary), Brooklyn, Iowa, and Wally DePauw, Marion, Iowa; one sister, Donna Henning, Hartwick, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marvette DePauw.
The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena, KS. Pastor Randy Baldrige will officiate.
