MRS. JOHN C. MCMEEKIN OF EWART PASSES

Ewart, Ia., May 6 Special:

The funeral services of Mrs. John C. McMeekin were held from the home April 28, and she was laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ewart.

The services were conducted by Rev. R.G. Smith, assisted by Mrs. Smith.

Three songs, "Asleep in Jesus," "The Lord's My Shepherd," and "It is Well With My Soul," were sung by Mrs. C.L. Braley.

Prior to the service the school children marched to the home to pay their respects to Mrs. McMeekin as she always had a great love for children. A great number of relatives and friends were present from Grinnell, Montezuma, Malcom, Brooklyn and Deep River.

Pallbearers were William Cleland, Dave Agnew, William Rutherford, Clifford Braley, Andrew McCormick and John Hamilton.

Isabella McMeekin, daughter of Andrew and Mary F. McMeekin, was born in Rock Island, Ill., Sept. 9, 1856, and passed away at her home in Ewart April 26 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 17 days. She became a member of the United Presbyterian church of Ewart in the early 90's.

She was married to John C. McMeekin of Ewart Sept. 10, 1884, and was the mother of four children. Three passed away in infancy: Joseph A., a baby, and Mary Ann, who passed away June 30, 1893, aged 1 year, 2 months and 2 days. She is survived by one son, James Francis, who with his family in Ewart was always in her mind and it was a great pleasure to have them with her. Her father and mother and three brothers, Francis, John and James, preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, John C. McMeekin, a son James F. and wife, four grandchildren, Leona M., Thelma M., James Clell and Alma M. McMeekin, also one sister, Miss Lucinda McMeekin of Davenport, and one brother, Joseph A. of Visalia, Calif., all of whom were with her at the time of her passing except her brother Joseph of California. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
