MAURETTA SHARER, 80

Mauretta Sharer, 80, of Montezuma, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Her private graveside service was held Thursday, Nov. 13, at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma, with Mr. Wes Fahlenkamp officiating. Watts Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mauretta was born on Feb. 15, 1923, at Montezuma, the daughter of Everett and Zephyr Freeborn. She graduated from Montezuma High School. She was united in marriage in 1941 to Tom Bryan. On Nov. 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Forrest Sharer at Harrison, AK. They lived all of their married life in Montezuma. Mauretta lived for her children and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She also enjoyed cooking and many people knew what a great cook she was.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Bryan of Grinnell; Lee Sharer and wife Penni of Montezuma, and Sam Sharer of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; one daughter, Vicki, and husband Mike Fahlenkamp of Montezuma; four grandchildren, Wes Fahlenkamp, Ben Sharer, Bart Sharer and Briony Sharer; three great-grandchildren, Levi, Seth and Alana Fahlenkamp; five sisters, Helen Harrington and Betty Malloy, both of Montezuma; Louise Kopfer of Denver, Colo.; Gladys Kilmer of Kirksville, Mo., and Joan Lucero of Englewood, Colo.; and three brothers, Delmar Freeborn of Grinnell, Everett Freeborn Jr. of Montezuma and Gene Freeborn of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Tom and Forrest; two brothers, Raymond and Cletus (Buddy), and a grandson, Troy Fahlenkamp.
