OBITUARY

Jacob Alexander Wickham, son of Robert A. and Helen Dudley Wickham, was born June 5, 1858, and passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 13 days.

His youth was spent on the farm near Forest Home where he was born.

On Oct. 6, 1880, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mitchell and to this union the following children were born: Mrs. Walter Parker of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Walter Palmer of Newburg, Mrs. Ross Gerard of Hollandale, Minn. and Claud Roy Wickham, who passed away March 23, 1890.

In 1882 they moved to Charles Mix County, S. Dak., where they lived for 8 years; later moving to Mills County, Ia., for 6 years; Texas County, Mo., 4 years; and then moved back to Mahaska County and later a farm near New Sharon. About 20 years ago they moved to their present home in Montezuma.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 3 who are in the service, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Grinnell and in 1889 joined the United Brethren Church in Mills County.

For many years Mr. Wickham and his two long-time friends, P.F. Smith and C.G. Adams celebrated their birthdays together. All met at the Adams home for the afternoon. The event was looked forward to from year to year. Mr. Smith and Mr. Adams will regret the loss of their long-time comrade.
