MRS. GERARD

Rites for Mrs. Viva Gerard were held Monday afternoon, December 13, at the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. James Nicholson officiating. Miss Alice Underwood was the organist at the services.

Casket bearers were Harold Swanson, Harold Taylor, Clifford Beyer, Ed Lester, Don Erquist and Ned Alexander. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Gerard, 83, died here Friday, December 10.

The daughter of J.A. and Margaret Wickham, she was born near Searsboro on Aug. 28, 1893.

On Nov. 25, 1916, she was married to Ross Gerard. They farmed in the Montezuma area until 1926 when they moved to Hollandale, Minn., where they operated a potato farm until they retired and moved to Morristown, Minn.

After Mr. Gerard's death in 1956, she moved to Montezuma and lived with her nephew, Glenn Farmer.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and two sisters, Ruby Farmer and Pearl Palmer.
