OBITUARY

Charles Ross Gerard, son of M.J and Jane Gerard, was born near Sharon Springs, Kansas, Nov. 24th, 1889, and passed away August 12, 1956 at Morristown, Minn.

He moved with his folks to Iowa at the age of five years. His boyhood days were spent around Montezuma. As a boy he was converted at the Little Mount Baptist Church west of Montezuma.

He was married Nov. 25, 1916 to Viva Wickham in Montezuma. He farmed around this area until 1926 when they moved to Minnesota.

His love for the outdoors was expressed by the lovely flowers he enjoyed raising. He spent much of his time around the Lakes of Minnesota.

Surviving are his wife, Viva; two brothers, Lewis of San Diego, Calif., Carl of Climax, Colo., four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Cochran of Gilman, Mrs. Pearl Hagen of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Pansy Arthur, Grinnell, Mrs. Irene Johnson of Ottumwa, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Steffy Funeral Home with Rev. C. Raymond Olander in charge.

Mrs. Earl DeJong and Mrs. Vincent Johnson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset."

Casketbearers were Carol Ryan, Kenneth Arthur, Robert Arthur, Keith Arthur, Ward Arthur and Joe Hasley.

Interment was in the Jackson Township cemetery.
