THERESA SCHULTZ

Theresa Schultz, 89, of Grinnell died of complications of a stroke Saturday, July 21.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Herb Knudten officiating. Organist was Teresa Ziegenmeyer, and vocalist was Marty Duffus. Casket bearers were Doug and Jeff Jack; Aaron, Brian, Craig and Robert Schultz; and David Smothers. Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 21, 1912, near Grinnell to Elmer and Sylvia Rehbert Baustian Puls. She was raised in the Malcom area and was a 1931 graduate of Malcom High School.

She was married to Omer Schultz Nov. 26, 1936, at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage. They operated a farm in Sheridan Township until her husband's death in 1963. She then moved to Grinnell and worked as a nurse's aide at the former Community Hospital. She also worked in food service at the Grinnell Country Club.

Mrs. Schultz was past president of the Eagles Auxiliary and was a district officer. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her son, Dale of Grinnell; two daughters, Carole Smothers and Ellen Jack, both of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Shirl Puls and Wayne Puls, both of Grinnell; and two sisters, Norma Griffin and Ruth Hasselbrink, both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one infant son and one brother, Robert Puls.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to the Eagles Auxiliary Abused Children Fund.
