MAXINE MEHLIN

Maxine C. Mehlin, 75, of 435 Hanna Blvd., Waterloo, a native of Newburg, died of a heart ailment Friday, Oct. 26, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery there.

The daughter of Walter and Pearl Wickham Palmer, she was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Newburg. She was married to Charles Mehlin Aug. 11, 1934, in rural Grinnell.

Mrs. Mehlin had been employed by Rath Packing Co. She and her husband also operated a grocery store and owned and operated Bay View Resort on Mille Lac, Onamia, Minn.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Gar of Waterloo; a daughter, Carol Hetrick of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Lloyd Palmer of Newton, Glenn Palmer of Bartlesville Okla., and Donald Palmer of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald, a brother, Verle Palmer; and three sisters, Lucille Brittain, Esther Williamson and Margaret Campbell.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
