IVY GERARD BURIED IN UNION MILLS CEMETERY

Funeral services for Mrs. Ivy Gerard were Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Burial was in Union Mills Cemetery with Mrs. Gerard's six sons serving as casket bearers.

Ivy, daughter of Cora and Isaac McMains, was born near New Sharon, August 1, 1876, and died in Oskaloosa, Feb. 22, at 88 years of age.

She attended rural schoool and Oskaloosa high school. In her youth, she united with the Christian Church in Union Mills, Iowa.

On Feb. 4, 1903, she married Charley Gerard. They lived on a farm in Mahaska County for many years. In 1942 they retired and moved to Grinnell, where she transferred her church membership to the Assembly of God Church.

After the death of Mr. Gerard in 1950, she made her home in Oskaloosa. For the past five years she has resided in a nursing home.

She is survived by a daughter, Virgie Peters, of Oskaloosa; and six sons, Harold of Grinnell; Homer of Oskaloosa; Clifford, of Mt. Ayr; Emil, of Newton; Paul and Eldon of Brooklyn; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
