Pearl Wickham Palmer was born Jan. 19, 1884, near Chamberlin, S. Dak., the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Mitchell Wickham, and died at a Grinnell hospital on June 4, 1959, following an extended illness.

She spent her early girlhood in Mills county, Iowa, and the Ozarks in Missouri. At the age of 13, the family moved to a farm south of Newburg. On November 14, 1906, she was united in marriage with Walter A. Palmer at Newburg, where they lived all their married life.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Newburg Congregational church and taught Sunday school for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband, her four daughters, Mrs. E.J. (Lucille) Britton of Culver City, Calif., Mrs. Vernon (Esther) Williamson of Buena Park, Calif., Mrs. Wells (Margaret) Campbell of Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. Charles F. (Maxine) Mehlin of Waterloo; her four sons, Lloyd B. and Verle of Newton, Glenn W. of Bartlesville, Okla., and Donald of Balboa Canal Zone; 15 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her sisters, Mrs. Ruby Parker of California and Mrs. Viva Gerard of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Claude.

Funeral services for Mrs. Palmer were held Saturday, June 6, at the Newburg Congregational church with the Rev. Homer Perry officiating. Music was provided by Virgil and Ruby Palmer and the organist was Mrs. Virgil Adams.

Pallbearers were Glenn Farmer, Kenneth Palmer, Harold Palmer, Myron Palmer, Richard Sears and Adelbert Sears. Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Ithel Gillespie, Mrs. Jonas Hendrickson, and Mrs. Amelia Clark. Interment was in Chester cemetery.
