JACK PARMLEY RITES PENDING

Leland Jack Parmley, 44, of Grinnell died Sunday morning of a self-inflicted gunshot wound while parked in his car at 428 Spring St.

Grinnell police said a .22-caliber rifle was found in the car.

The son of Vursel Paul and Cecil Messer Parmley, he was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Rock Creek Township. He attended the Grinnell schools and was graduated with the class of 1946. Mr. Parmley was employed by the city of Grinnell in the water department.

He is survived by his wife Judie; his parents; one brother, Thomas Paul Parmley of Grinnell; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Eileen Barker of Gilman and Mrs. Richard (Linda Sue) Griffith of Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Parmley will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman.
