WALLACE HAINES RITES TODAY

Wallace E. Haines, 68, of Montezuma died Tuesday morning, Nov. 16, at the Poweshiek County Care Facility in Montezuma.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church officiating. Organist was Naomi Reaves. Pallbearers were Terry Freeborn, Gerald Haines, Bill Haines, Ralph Haines, Richard Haines, Brian Kelm and Dean Schropp. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The son of Andrew Jackson and Pearl May Otto Haines, he was born Jan. 10, 1914, near Brooklyn. He attended rural school and later attended Brooklyn schools. He had lived in the Brooklyn and Montezuma areas for most of his life.

Survivors include three brothers, John Haines of Sigourney, Bill Haines of Grinnell and Ray Haines of Gilman, and three sisters, Betty Kelm, Fern Freeborn and Catherine Akers, all of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph Haines; and two sisters, Zella Delk and Hazel M. Haines.
