FRED LORISH PASSES AWAY

Husband of a Former Grinnell Girl Sleeps Away to His Death at His Home in Allentown, Pa.

We have received through Gerald Laros a story of the death of his brother-in-law, Fred C. Lorish at Allentown, Pa. Mr. Lorish is spoken of in the Allentown Morning Call as a "widely known Rotarian," who was found dead in his bed the morning of August 25. He was in his 52nd year. Mr. Lorish's wife was known here, a girl, as Sadie Laros. Here she went to the public schools and grew up into womanhood. Those who knew her in the early days will remember her as an attractive young lady. The following obituary appeared in the "Call:"

"Allentown lost one of its most highly respected business men yesterday morning with the sudden death of Fred C. Lorish. The widely known Rotarian and cleaner and dyer was found dead in bed yesterday morning. He was in his 52nd year.

"Mr. Lorish on Thursday appeared to be in the best of health, but in the evening he complained of feeling slightly ill. His wife accompanied him to the family physician for treatment. During the night, however, he was restless. Later he went into a sleep from which he never awoke.

"Mr. Lorish would have been fifty-two years of age next October. He was born at (Breinigsville)? and was the son of the late Morris F. and Ella J. Lorish. He came to Allentown twenty-five years ago and with his father formed the firm of the Only Dry Cleaners. They established a large business which extended over a wide territory. The business here had a branch in Reading which Lorish conducted jointly with his brother, George E. Lorish, and which the latter managed.

"Fred Lorish was proprietor of the Allentown business since the death of his father. He was highly regarded in the city's commercial and fraternal circles. Mr. Lorish was a past president of Rotary and an enthusiastic member of the Inner Circle, an organization of Past Officers. He was president of Rotary in the 1922-1923 term. He was past master of Lehigh Lodge, F. and A.M. of Trexlertown, Lehigh Consistory, Allen Commandery, Knights Templar, Rajah Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Allentown Lodge of Elks, Macungle Lodge, No. 118, I.O.O.F. of Fogelsville.

"He was a member of St. James Reformed church since its organization and officer of the congregation and president of the Knights of St. James, a social organization of the congregation. He was a member of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce.

"Mr. Lorish is survived by his wife, Sadie E., three children, Ruth E., Frederick J., and Robert of Allentown, and his brother, George E., of Reading."
