Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) Feb. 3, 1893

--Last Tuesday morning occurred the death of Harry Shoffner at the home of his mother in northeast Grinnell. He was a son of Mrs. Shoffner who moved here several months ago. Only about five weeks ago Harry reached Grinnell and went to work with his uncle, J.C. Powell, on Prof. Macy's house. About two weeks ago he was attacked by scarlet fever, which carried him off. Tho not well known in Grinnell, he belongs to one of our best families, and is spoken of as a bright, active, intelligent and industrious young man of the best of character. The body was interred in Hazelwood Wednesday.
