RAYMOND L. KOGER

Raymond L. Koger, 75, of 511 Main St., Grinnell, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 29, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Del Dawes officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Casket bearers were Jeff and Bryan McNulty, Mark Dimit, Richard Innis, Kenneth Johnson and Bill Owen. Honorary bearers were Bob Dimit, Delmar Gildersleeve, Don Latham, Ray Lamansky, Roger Moyer, Art Wells and Russ Winburn. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Medical Center or to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

He was born April 14, 1928, on the family farm south of Grinnell to Henry and Dora Garrett Koger. He was raised in rural Washington Township, attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1946. He was married on Dec. 4, 1949, to Delores Lukehart in Laurel. The couple operated a grain and livestock farm south of Grinnell and he also did custom corn shelling for area farmers.

He was a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau and was a former trustee of Washington Township.

He is survived by his wife Delores Koger of Grinnell; one son, Steven Koger of Grinnell; one daughter Cindie Schlater of Exira; two grandchildren; two great-granchildren; one sister Marie Gildersleeve of Fennimore, Wis.; and two brothers, Robert Koger, Everett, Wash., and Ralph Koger of Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter Susan Elaine Koger.
