RITES HELD FOR MRS. DHOOGE

Mary Anne Dhooge, 70, of Rte. 1, Brooklyn, died at her home Wednesday, July 1.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Karl Holtkamp officiating. Organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mike Maschmann, Dave Collum, Jack Smothers, Pat Akery, Roger Van Renterghem, and Gary Brouwer.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Joseph R. and Mollie McGarry Burry, she was born on Feb. 23, 1917, in Iowa City. She received her education at St. John's Catholic School in Victor, at Mt. St. Clair College in Clinton, and at a business school in Oskaloosa.

She was married to Camiel J. Dhooge on June 15, 1938, in Victor. They farmed in the Brooklyn area, and Mrs. Dhooge worked for a Brooklyn creamery. She was also a secretary for Cushing Telephone Co. and for the Poweshiek County Health Department.

Mrs. Dhooge was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church and taught catechism. She was also a member of the Social Circle Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Tourville of Brookline, Mo., and Mary Jean Patten of Lebanon, Mo.; one son, Cam of Malcom; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one foster granddaughter; and two foster great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
