CLIFFORD WILSON GROSS

Clifford Wilson, son of Samuel and Margaret Wilson, was born November 25, 1882, and departed this life April 14, 1961.

From about ten years of age he made his home with Jake and Katharine Gross.

December 4, 1907, he was united in marriage to Emma Dunton. To this union two children were born, Kenneth and Katherine. His wife passed away in 1941.

He farmed near Brooklyn the greater share of his life. In later years he moved to Grinnell, where he remained as an employee of Grinnell College until failing health forced his retirement.

In 1942 he married Myrtle Blevins, with whom he spent many happy years.

He was a member of the Methodist church. He became a charter member of Poweshiek County Farm Bureau and continued to be actively interested in its program.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Emma, by two sisters, Isabelle Lee and Julia Harper, one brother, Jud, and one grandson, Bruce Yount.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Myrtle, two children, Kenneth Gross and Mrs. Fred (Katherine) Yount, both of Brooklyn, one brother, John Lutter of Pacific Junction, Iowa; four step-children, Wayne Blevins, Martha Phipps, Betty Wisse, and Kelly Blevins, and three step-sisters, Ella Gross, Hazel Behrensen, and Rheta Hall. Besides these, there are twenty-four grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and many other relatives and unnumbered friends.

Most outstanding of his personal traits was his love for children and his ability to win their love and confidence.
