DON SOWERWINE

Don R. Sowerwine, 79, of Grinnell died of cancer Saturday, Nov. 2, at the home of his son, Robert, in Slidell, La.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lon Lewis officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of John G. and Martha Speck Sowerwine, he was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Victor. He was a 1936 graduate of Victor High School.

He was married to Mildred Dunton June 23, 1939.

Mr. Sowerwine worked at John Deere Harvester, the Ford Motor Co. and Onthank Body and Fender. He also owned Don's Bike Repair for many years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and served as a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville.

Surviving are his son, Robert; three grandsons; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
