GUY C. DUNTON

Funeral services for Guy C. Dunton, 92, a lifelong resident of Brooklyn were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Mr. Dunton died Friday night, Nov. 13, 1987 in the Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn, following a brief illness.

The Rev. Raymond D. Moore, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiated at the services and the organist was Mrs. Nina Bartachek. Flower attendants were Mrs. Anna Stauffer, Mrs. Ferne Slagle, and Mrs. Annie Bacon. Honorary casket bearers were Amos Reida, Fred Yount, and Glenn Slagle. Casket bearers were Robert Sowerwine, Robert Sowerwine Jr., Jeff Sowerwine, Scott Sowerwine, Russell Riggens, and Duane Roudabush. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Guy C. Dunton, son of Frank and Clara Baker Dunton, was born in Brooklyn Dec. 30, 1894. He attended the Brooklyn Schools, was a member of the Brethren Church on the south side, later a member of the Methodist Church.

On April 16, 1919 he was united in marriage to Blanche E. Negus in Brooklyn and they were the parents of one daughter, Mildred.

Mr. Dunton and his father ran the Dunton Nursery for many years. He was assistant postmaster in Brooklyn and later was a custodian for Brooklyn schools.

Surviving are his daughter, Mildred, and her husband, Don Sowerwine of Grinnell; one grandson, Robert Sowerwine and his wife, Sue; three great-grandsons, Robbie, Jeffrey and Scott Sowerwine, all of Slidell, La.; a niece, Helen Riggens and her husband Russell who reside in Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Blanche, who died in 1977, and a brother, Leo.
