DUNTON RITES WERE SUNDAY

Aged Resident of Brooklyn Was 91

Funeral rites for W.B. Dunton were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Bramer's funeral home with the Rev. Clarence E. Thiele, pastor of Grace Methodist church, in charge. Mrs. C.H. Manatt at the organ accompanied Grace Ecklund and Mary Sue Rigdon, who sang two duets.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery. Pallbearers were: Edward Ammann, Leslie Dunton, Keith Dunton, Kenneth Gross, Darrell Goodlow and Wayne Dunton.

Mr. Dunton's death occurred at his home here last Thursday following an illness of many years. For the past twelve years his daughter, Beryl, has cared for him and since last September his daughter, Olive, has assisted. He was 91 years old.

Willard B. Dunton, son of Joel R. and Mary A. Dunton, was born in Bureau county, Illinois March 27, 1857. He moved with his parents to Ohio and following the Civil War the family moved back to Illinois and two years later came to Jasper county, Iowa. In the spring of 1869 they moved to Poweshiek county where he has since lived.

He married Mary A. Bramer September 13, 1880, and the following year the couple joined the Methodist church in Lincoln township and later transferred to the Fairmount Methodist church when moving to Scott township. They united with the Grace Methodist church in Brooklyn when they located in Brooklyn.

Mr. Dunton is survived by five children: Olive Dunton and Beryl Ammann of Brooklyn; Delbert Dunton of Rock Falls, Iowa; Alice Goodlow of Deep River and Josephine Mathisen of Milwaukee, Wisc.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Brooks of Brooklyn; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 3, 1940 and two children, Emma Gross and Earl Dunton.
