The funeral of Mrs. Mable Dunton was held Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Hall officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Keith Stahl accompanied by organist Miss Ann Hubbard.

Burial was in the Jackson Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were James Fisk, Albert Dunton, Donald Braden, O.F. Guyton, Lowell Smith and Delon Johnson.

Mrs. Dunton died Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Grinnell General Hospital. She was 85.

The daughter of William and Mary Parker Bryan, she was born at Beloit, Kans., on June 27, 1887.

On May 5, 1905, she married William Dunton and to this union six children were born, three of whom died in infancy. She lived in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties most of her life.

Survivors include three children, Virgil Dunton of Moline, Ill., Pauline Smith of Inverness, Fla., and Maxine Johnson of Montezuma; 11 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband died in 1954. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and a daughter-in-law.
