DELBERT RAY DIES; BURIAL HELD THURSDAY

Delbert Russell Ray, native of Nebraska and resident of the Grinnell community many years, died Monday, Dec. 6, following a long illness. He died at his home at Marshalltown.

Born at Alliance, Nebr., Oct. 10, 1887, he was the son of F.E. Ray and Margaret Harrison, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married March 20, 1907 at Newton to Statia Adkins.

Funeral services were held this afternoon, Thurday, from Smith Funeral Home with Elder Fred Phipps in charge. Burial was at Rock Creek cemetery in Jasper county.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Brigarrett of Merrifield, Minn., one grandson, one great granddaughter; two brothers, Harry E. Ray and J.C. Ray, both of Marshalltown; a sister, Mrs. Carl Hausafus; neices, Mrs. R.G. George and Patricia Ray, Mrs. Bonnie Lathrop and Mrs. Jack Hays, all of Marshalltown; and two nephews, R.R. Ray of Marshalltown, and D.E. Ray of Grinnell.

Mr. Ray was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and Chester Royal Grange.

At the final rites vocalist was D.C. Talbert of Ottumwa and flower bearers were Wanda Keisey, Edith Reeves and Marilyn Strasser. Pall bearers were William Keisey, Bonnie Lathrop, Harold Haines, Howard May, Ross Mintle and Roland Ray.
