ROY STRASSER RITES CONDUCTED
Roy E. Strasser, 84, of 1828 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday, Jan. 8, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with Elder C.D. Talbert of the Liberty Primitive Baptist Church of Grinnell and Elder Fred Phipps of LeGrand officiating. Organist was Barbara Lien, and pallbearers included Harold Haines, Bill Kiesey, James L. King, Jerry King, Ross Mintle, Gilbert Taylor and Olaf Young. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The son of William and Emma Miller Strasser, he was born Feb. 9, 1898, at Gibson. He was a graduate of Gibson High School.
He was married to Minnie Hahn in 1927, and the couple moved to Grinnell. He was a mechanic for the Van Wechel Chevrolet-Olds Motor Co. until his retirement. In 1933, his wife died, and on Jan. 5, 1935, he was married to Cretia Adkins Stinson in Grinnell.
He is survived by his wife, Cretia; his daughter Marilyn King of Des Moines; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister Mayme Nolte of Hibbing, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, four sisters and three brothers.
