THELMA GREEN RITES FRIDAY
Thelma M. Green, 76, of 90 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Tuesday morning at her home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony Farrell officiating. The rosary and scripture services were recited Thursday evening.
Pallbearers were Robert E. Anderson, Paul Clark, Dale Green, Rick Green, Claire Mithelman and David Wright. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Frank and Jesena Cordes Lundy, she was born on Jan. 10, 1911, in Gilmore City. She attended high school there.
On June 26, 1935, she was married to Frank Green at Fort Dodge. The couple lived in Gilmore City and Webster City before coming to Grinnell in 1937. While living here, they owned the East Side Grocery and established Green's Tot Shop, a children's store. Following her husband's death in 1965, Mrs. Green worked at Grahams Department Store. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Wright of Parkville, Mo.; two sons, Paul of Oakland Acres and Michael of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter, Margaret, in infancy; a sister, Violet Wallace; and a brother, Lowell Lundy.
