FRIDAY SERVICES AT MALCOM FOR BEN BAUSTIAN, 67
Ben E. Baustian, 67, Malcom, died at a local hospital Wednesday morning. He had been in ill health for more than three years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Malcom Methodist church with the Rev. Donald Wooge, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Ivy Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
He was the son of George and Phillipina Eisele Baustian and was born May 13, 1894, in Sheridan Township. He attended the local rural schools near the family farm home.
Mr. Baustian was united in marriage with Martha Neville at her family farm home June 16, 1915, by the Rev. W.A. Smith. To this union were born three children, two of whom survive: Mrs. Walter (Thelma) Hanssen of Rte. 3, Grinnell, and George Baustian of Rte. 2, Malcom.
Mr. and Mrs Baustian farmed the family farm where he was born for 25 years and then moved to the Eisele farm in 1940. In 1945 they moved to Malcom.
He was active in rural and town affairs, having been a member of the Pleasant Hill Grange, the Malcom town council, Malcom Telephone board, Malcom Cemetery Assn., and Odd Fellows Lodge No. 369 of Malcom. He was baptized in the Lutheran church.
Survivors include his widow, Martha, at the family home; his two children, Thelma and George; and a granddaughter, Denise Marie Baustian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Muriel Lucille, who died at the age of three months; one brother, Elmer Baustian; and one sister, Mrs. John (Stella) Siehl.
