CHARLES DUNTON, OF GUERNSEY, IS FATALLY BURNED

Charles Dunton, a resident of the little town of Guernsey just north of Deep River, was so severely burned the morning of October 31 that he died a few hours later.

Mr. Dunton, who was about 50 years of age, lived alone in his home in the village. He arose about daylight and was engaged in lighting a fire in the cook stove. It is thought that he mistook the gasoline for kerosene and a terrific explosion followed. People in the hotel adjacent to the Dunton home heard the explosion, and when they arrived upon the scene Mr. Dunton was lying on the floor unconscious. His clothing even to one shoe, was burned entirely from his body. He died shortly after 10 o'clock. The force of the explosion broke the windows in the room.

Mr. Dunton was an old resident of this county. He has a wife and family, but their whereabouts are not known.

No inquest has been deemed necessary.--Montezuma Palladium
